Te Tuhi Curatorial Internship

The Te Tuhi Curatorial Internship is a full-time paid internship role: to curate a programme of exhibitions and events at Platform Gallery, the independent art space at Te Tuhi Studios at Cheshire St, Parnell Station across a fixed period of 18 months.

The curatorial internship is an opportunity for an emerging professional to engage in supported and sustained research and curatorial experimentation in the field of contemporary art. This pioneering model provides a unique platform for curatorial development, drawing on Te Tuhi’s reputation as an experimental, artist-focussed institution.

With a strategic focus on supporting curatorial research that is locally engaged, regionally responsive and internationally ambitious, Te Tuhi is committed to developing the curatorial capacity within Aotearoa, to engage with the global conversation in contemporary art. Te Tuhi actively seeks to encourage the development of New Zealand curators at all stages of their careers.

The curatorial internship gives an arts practitioner the space and resources to generate quality exhibitions that reflect Tāmaki Makaurau’s communities and engage diverse audiences. They will be supported to develop the depth of their curatorial work, and their exhibition-making capabilities.

The programme at Platform Gallery is in line with with Te Tuhi’s curatorial policy, focussing on showing new work with a strong awareness of social, political and environmental context, emphasising artistic process and practice, and representing communities who are less visible in the arts sector.
