This installation uses features of the sculpture court space to explore the relationships and tensions which occur at the interface of opposing factors – light/heavy, flexible/inflexible, natural/man-made, traditional/contemporary, Māori/Pākehā. The search is for complementary patterns and a visual balance in which one element ceases to be dominant over its opposite, allowing both to work together in some kind of partnership.
