A selected exhibition of recent work by members from the Northern Regional Chapter of the Crafts Council of New Zealand.
What is your idea of contemporary craftmaking in New Zealand? The current exhibition of craftwork at the Fisher Gallery, Pakuranga hopes to excite visitors to some of the diversity and advances that have occurred in recent craftmaking practice.
This exhibition explores the idea of function and non functional in traditional and contemporary craft and brings together a selection of work by members of the Auckland and Northland region of the Crafts Council of New Zealand.
The participants in the show have been encouraged to promote their efforts with imaginative interpretations of their current work.
Exhibitors have been asked to examine the concept of function and non functional, to interpret and re interpret their work within this framework, to be different, challenging and to provide a forum for debate about the process and result of craftmaking.
