From 9 August – 4 October 2026, Spoor Books presents a pop-up bookshop dedicated to books from beyond the Western world, with a focus on South Asia, the African continent, and the Arab world.
The bookshop is presented alongside Pallavi Paul’s exhibition, To Be in Someone Else’s Prayer, an exhibition commissioned by Te Tuhi in partnership with Satellites and curated by Balamohan Shingade.
To Be in Someone Else's Prayer responds to the fragility of the body—human, political, and architectural—by imagining itself as a chadar: a fabric laid over the graves of loved ones and patron saints as an offering of refuge and healing.
Chadar in Hindi translates as a covering or cloak. Just as to be wrapped or gathered beneath a chadar is to be held in love’s healing embrace, books, too, can offer shelter. And bookshops can become coverings under which new encounters, solidarities, and ways of imagining the world can unfold.
