Workshops will be held over three Saturdays hosted by Tim Danko and T.V. Competition: FutureFutureFuture, a comic/zine group that developed from the artists associated with Māpura Studios.

Participants will be invited to explore a variety of cartooning formats in an open studio setting and be introduced to a range of ways of making comics. The workshop will include introductory exercises and prompts for attendees if needed. Participants can attend one or all three of the workshops, with a collaborative group zine-style comic produced at the end of the workshop sessions.

Everyone is welcome.

About T.V. Competition: Future Future Future
T.V. Competition: Future Future Future is a comic/zine group that developed from the artists associated with Māpura Studios. Since early 2016, across three locations in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, the group has explored the inherently autistic nature of the comic medium, dissolving the boundaries between image and text.

“New Zealand doesn't read the Beano anymore
because it's not relevant to Donald Trump.
It's an ablelist message.
Autism needs not to get cured.
It is called a creative rudeness.”

About The chronicle of <cognition>
This event is part of the series of live events that are contributing to The chronicle of <cognition>, a collaborative project tracing histories of human and non-human cognition through live events, online contributions and a large-scale wall work.

With an emphasis on neurodiversity in Aotearoa, The chronicle of <cognition> project addresses how the topic of cognition inherently intersects with global discussions concerning white supremacy, disability, gender, sexuality, animal rights, biodiversity and artificial intelligence. Each contributor to the live event series has been asked to present a narrative thread that situates this discussion in relation to key events in a range of disciplines, such as science, technology, policy, activism, art, film or literature.
