Artist Ava Seymour will present two separate projects on Te Tuhi’s billboards, which are located across the road from the gallery on Reeves Road in Pakuranga and at Parnell Station.

For several years, Seymour has been making work using images of cats and kittens. These range from collage to moving-image installations and explore gaze, gesture, repetition and rhythm.

I’m Here For The Butterflies and Story Of Love are Seymour’s first forays into public art and central to these new commissions is location. For I’m Here For The Butterflies, on the Reeves Road billboard, the cats are directly engaged with the gallery; for Story Of Love in Parnell, their relationship is with the tracks and the movement of trains in and out of the station. I’m Here For The Butterflies and Story Of Love can be viewed from 25 September at these two locations, at any time of day.

All exhibitions are currently offsite due to disruptions caused by the Pakuranga Eastern Busway construction. The building remains open for classes and other activities. 21 William Roberts Road, Pakuranga, is the best address to enter into navigation apps to guide you to the free parking at our door.
