Xi Li’s ambitious interdisciplinary exhibition The Transcendence Labyrinth of Idols encourages us to question ideas of idol worship that are often channelled through celebrities and popstars within the contemporary digital landscape.

Traversing individual obsession and then into broader structural narratives of mythology and spirituality, Li develops an approach between fantasy and belief. Through a combination of theoretical criticism and artistic practice, Li uses this approach to clarify the distinction between the self and the symbolic.

The Transcendence Labyrinth of Idols creates an immersive spectacle of mythological imagery that bridges the historical with the surreal.
