Puku – OF WEAPONS AND WORDS, Book Launch and Film Screening

Celebrate the release of Of Weapons and Words at Puku from 6pm. The book by Al-Rifaq Translations features six translated essays of political commentary and analysis on Palestine and the wider region.

Building on Al-Rifaq’s work to make Arabic-language political commentary, analysis, and theory accessible to Western and English-speaking readership, this new book features previously published essays by Mousa Alsadah, Sari Orabi, and Nidal Khalaf, and includes freshly translated texts by Amer Mohsen and Abdaljawad Omar, as well as a discussion between professors from Birzeit University in response to the ongoing war: Vivian Aqiqi with Abaher El-Sakka, Lena Meari, and Mudar Kassis.

Books will be available to purchase from Puku, with all proceeds going towards commissioning more work from translators in and connected to Gaza.

At 7pm we will follow with the screening of a Palestinian film (tba).
