Learning outcomes
Visual arts, levels 3–4
Understanding arts in context
During our pre-visit exercises we will learn the origins, techniques and art form of collage and why artists choose and make art this way. During the workshop we will use this knowledge to help understand the art we see and the ideas they explore.
Developing ideas
During our pre-visit exercises we will begin to develop our ideas of collage and the different ways artists make collage. During our Te Tuhi visit we will use this knowledge to help understand the art we see and the ideas they explore.
Developing practical knowledge
During our visit we will use collage techniques and materials such as colour paper, calendar images, pen and watercolour paint to create an artwork.
Communicating and interpreting
During our visit we will share our ideas and thoughts about the art we see and make. We will listen to how others have created their art.
Social sciences
Identity, culture and organisation
Place and environment
During our pre-visit exercises we will learn how artists use different materials and imagery to express different identities of people and place. During our Te Tuhi visit we will also share our ideas of people and place through the creation of our artwork.
Technology
Nature of technology – characteristics of technology
During our pre-visit exercises we will discover how technology has changed how collage looks and how artists make collage.
