Recent Auckland Glass is an exhibition curated by volunteer, Pauline Farquhar. She has invited a group of Auckland-based artists whose glass works are skillful examples of current work based around the theme of domestic table ware and accessories that would compliment a dinner service setting.
The Auckland artists invited include; Emma Camden, Jane Dodd, Giovanni Glass (John Croucher and John Leggot), Jenny McLeod, Ruth Milton, Garry Nash, Peter Raos, Ann Robinson, Kirsten Sach, Emily Siddell, Mel Simpson, Peter Viesnik, Clovis Viscoe and Areta Wilkinson. Overall, their work describes the great variety of glass vessels available according to their intended use - for drinking, for serving food and for display.
The artists range widely in age, experience and the kind of work they produce. Together these artists demonstrate the quality and diversity in contemporary practice in glass works. Their work is indicative of the range in media and treatment from cast glass, blown glass to sandblasting. Recent Auckland Glass aims to provide the participating artists and the attending audience an arena for discovery, innovation, discussion and it offers the artists the opportunity to pioneer new work and ideas.
