Curator Dr Peter Shand, Senior Lecturer in Fine Arts at The University of Auckland, presents the work of twelve artists to question vision. All the artists in the exhibition investigate the contingency, uncertainty or partiality of seeing and what this might involve for an art audience.
Vision tends to be something we take for granted. Most of us spend very little time exploring or questioning the many ways in which it is shaped, mediated and experienced. The works pick out central ideas and philosophies pertaining to vision and how those have changed over the centuries.
