Artist’s statement -
Zemun, placed in the lower town, by historic maps is actually the suburb of Belgrade. Resting on the banks of the river Danube, and on the slope of the hill, dominated by Sibinjanin Janko tower. Numerous churches embellished the panorama of the town with their slim bell-towers.
This town was through the centuries on the crossroads of the cultures, heritage, trading routes and last station from Central Europe to the Balkan Peninsula and Middle East. Today, Zemun remains surrounded by beautiful sights, amazing architecture, as well as the spirit of the people who make it come alive. It’s the town where I was born and where the memories remain.
Part of this collection, more than 70 works, were exhibited in August in Zemun at Old Kapetanija gallery. So please enjoy the works as an experience through my eyes - fly free like a ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ who lives in all of us.
