We’re looking for a practising artist with a passion for sharing creativity to teach children’s art classes at Te Tuhi in Pakuranga.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to inspire the next generation through art. You’ll be leading small, fun, and engaging classes for children aged 6-8 or 8-12, helping them explore different materials, techniques, and ways of expressing themselves. The focus is on creativity and confidence, not perfection, so we’re looking for someone who values experimentation, imagination, and the process of making.

You don’t need to be a trained teacher, but you should have experience working with children and feel confident managing a group in a supportive, positive way. You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering simple art sessions that encourage curiosity and play, using provided materials. This role suits an artist who is organised, reliable, and great at communicating with both children and their families.

Classes run weekly during the school term at Te Tuhi. Teachers are paid as independent contractors, and employment is subject to police vetting. For more information on classes currently offered see here.

If you're an artist who enjoys working with Tamariki and wants to bring creativity into a community setting, we’d love to hear from you. To apply send your CV and cover letter to ashley@tetuhi.art.
