Exploring contemporary art in context.

Art Today with Claire Chamberlain offers an opportunity to learn about art through a global lens, enriching participants’ understanding of the significance and complexities of contemporary art. Taking an analytical approach, the tutor situates themes in contemporary art within broader historical contexts in Aotearoa and internationally. Lively class discussions may unravel the impact of sociopolitical movements such as Black Lives Matter, or the rise of digital exhibitions and NFTs in the age of Covid-19.

Course content may respond to current exhibitions, events and the interests of students. Comprising an evolving series of tutor-led discussions and gallery visits, Art Today with Claire Chamberlain provides a relaxed learning environment with no formal assessments. While enrolments are for one year, many students continue year after year.

Classes run weekly, with multiple weekday options.
Choose from:
- Thursdays, 10.30am–12.30pm
- Fridays, 10.00am–12.00pm

*Please note, the listed course fee includes an online transaction surcharge. To avoid the surcharge, payment can be made via bank transfer, in which case the fee is $1400.00. See here for details.
