$100.00 – $1,000.00
About
Despite being a small organisation with limited funds, Te Tuhi’s commissioning programme has made an incredible impact on Aotearoa New Zealand’s contemporary art scene. Te Tuhi is well known for supporting artists and has a remarkable track record of supporting the creation of new work at pivotal points in artists’ careers. Commissions include installation, film and performance works exhibited at Te Tuhi’s base in Pakuranga and in public spaces around Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Previous commissions include the Walters Prize-nominated Mo‘ui tukuhausia (2012/2014) by Kalisolaite ‘Uhila and Untitled (2012) by Luke Willis Thompson, a highly influential work now held in the collection of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
Te Tuhi’s commissioning fund was established in 2015 by a generous donation from Walters Prize winner Shannon Te Ao. Sales of editions donated by artists also support this fund. Donations to the fund go directly to supporting artists to create ambitious new work.
